How much do you know about the state of the world?

I try to keep up with a few key facts about how the world is doing, and I like to test my knowledge to make sure I’m staying up to date. So I asked my team to put together this short quiz, and then I took it. Give it a try. After you answer all ten questions, you’ll find out how you did, and whether you topped my score…

Congratulations—you beat me! I’m impressed.

You may have noticed a pattern: Each correct answer is the most positive of all the possible options. The lowest poverty rate, etc.

We did it that way to make a point. There is a lot of good news to report. Sometimes it is hard to see because tragedies dominate the headlines, but if you take a long-term view, the improvements are pretty mind-blowing.

Nice going—we’re tied! You scored X out of Y, the same as I did.

This month is a good time to be reflecting on the state of the world. Global leaders will be meeting in New York to agree on a set of goals that will set the agenda for fighting poverty, improving health, and tackling other big problems over the next 15 years. Even as the world struggles with the refugee crisis and other urgent issues, this is a good opportunity to think back on how much progress we’ve made, and how much more we can make in the coming years.

If you want to join the conversation, I’d encourage you to sign up with Global Citizen. They’ll help you get informed, take action, and connect with like-minded people around the world.
